Game Research Lab sporadically participates in hosting international research conferences. In 2020, Gamelab co-organises DiGRA 2020, the major international game studies conference. We also participated e.g. in organising Narrative Minds and Virtual Worlds in 2013, which was co-organised by professor Frans Mäyrä with professors Mari Hatavara from Finnish Literature and Matti Hyvärinen from Sociology.
Nordic DiGRA 2012 was hosted by Game Research Lab in the summer of 2012 to mark the tenth anniversary of Tampere Gamelab. The first major international conference organised by the lab, Computer Games and Digital Cultures (CGDC, 2002) took place in 2002. The conference papers are available through the DiGRA Digital Library here.
